The Most Wonderful Time of the Year with Mini Mall Storage

Helping others and giving back to our communities are important priorities year-round, but as the weather gets colder and the holidays grow near, we tend to start thinking about what we can do for others. It's no wonder we call it the most wonderful time of the year. Whether it be donations, parades, food drives, or volunteering, giving back is part of our identity, and with the season of giving upon us, let’s check out what your local self storage experts at Mini Mall Storage have been up to!
Holiday Events

Nothing brings the community together like a good Christmas parade, and Mini Mall Storage is proud to have sponsored and participated in several this year across the US and Canada, including Bristol, TN, Shelby, NC, and Hawkesbury, ON. Each of our teams joined their local parades, spreading holiday cheer by handing out free toys and candy to children.
The festive spirit showed up in fun and creative ways:
- A team member dressed as the Grinch
- Inflatable Rudolphs decorating MMSP service vans
- Plenty of smiles (and sweets) shared with the community
Bringing joy didn’t stop there. Our Shelby, NC team will also be participating in a tree decorating event later in December that supports the local community.
Meanwhile, our Plano, TX and Calgary, AB teams focused on giving back in another way by assembling care packages for the local unhoused population, including essentials like:
- Blankets and scarves
- Socks
- Hygiene items
- Hand warmers
- Snacks
Storage That Cares
Mini Mall Storage is committed to giving back to our communities, and we’re proud of the work we’ve done not just during the holiday season, but throughout the entire year.
On September 27th, Hurricane Helene hit the United States causing widespread damage in areas not usually significantly impacted by hurricane season, including mountainous areas of Tennessee and North Carolina. Asheville, NC was particularly hard hit, with full restoration of power and water not occurring until almost a full month later. Mini Mall Storage was proud to donate to the American Red Cross to help the affected communities. Read more on our Hurricane Helene Relief blog.
Our commitment to giving back doesn’t stop with financial donations. Each of our employees receives dedicated paid volunteer time, while each store also receives a charitable stipend yearly to use in their communities. We also have dedicated charities we work with throughout the year like Shelter Movers, who help us donate storage units to those fleeing abuse. More information about charities we’ve worked with can be found on our Transforming Communities: The Power Behind Donations and Volunteering blog.
While our current charity work is significant, we’re always looking to expand our community outreach efforts. Our staff are local, and we understand that part of good business is taking care of those around you. We’re already looking forward into 2025 and can’t wait to see what we can do to serve others even better in the new year! Enjoy the most wonderful time of the year!
FAQs
How can self storage help during the holiday season?
Self storage provides extra space to keep decorations, gifts, and seasonal items safe and organized, so your home stays clutter-free.
What’s the best way to store holiday decorations?
Use labeled bins or clear containers for lights, ornaments, and décor. Wrap fragile items in tissue or bubble wrap to keep them protected until next year.
Can I use self storage for hiding holiday gifts?
Yes! A storage unit is a perfect spot to keep gifts hidden from curious kids (and adults) until it’s time for the big reveal.
Is climate-controlled storage important for holiday items?
Absolutely—climate-controlled units protect delicate items like candles, electronics, or wooden ornaments from temperature and humidity damage.
What are some other holiday uses for self storage?
Beyond décor and gifts, storage can also hold extra furniture for holiday gatherings, seasonal clothing, or bulky items like skis and snowboards until you’re ready to use them.
