Home to a warm and right-knit community, Dawson Creek boasts a population of approximately 13,000 people. Known as Regional Centre and most commonly “Mile 0 City” due it serving as the regional center for northeastern British Columbia. Dawson Creek started out as a small farming community that grew in size when the North Alberta Railways extended there in 1932 and they further experienced growth when the US Army used their rail terminus for a shipment point while constructing the Alaska Highway.
The town is home to a variety of outdoor activities such as hiking, hunting, fishing, camping, and more, with several trails and parks being available in the area. Dawson Creek has vibrant cultural scene as well, with the local Dawson Creek Art Gallery and the Alaska Highway House showcasing many art pieces and artefacts from the area.
